    Seaweed Opportunties Seminar

    Full-day seminar for potential seaweed farmers and investors.

    Seaweed aquaculture is attracting tremendous attention nationally and globally. This seminar is designed to separate the hype from the reality of seaweed aquaculture with a focus on US domestic production.

    The program will be divided into two sessions. The morning session will focus on seaweed production, post-harvest processing, and value-added products. The afternoon session will explore business opportunities and challenges, including permitting, start-up costs, market opportunities, product development, and investment opportunities and timelines.

    This is a must-attend event if you are considering entering the farmed seaweed industry or investing in this exciting segment of the blue-green economy!

    The full-day program includes a networking luncheon. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the MSE Seaweed Industry Analysis Report detailing the current state of the seaweed industry in North America.

    Sarah Redmond is the founder of Springtide Seaweed, LLC. She has extensive expertise in seaweed nursery systems and management, new crop development, farming expertise, education and training of new farmers, harvesting, processing, product development, and crop standards. Sarah has been a leader in seaweed aquaculture industry in Maine since 2010 through the development of new nurseries and educational programs, crops and products, sea farmer training programs, the first organic certification program for seaweed crops, and through major facilitation of the industry by way of the “Seaweed Scene” meetings from 2012-2015, and the Maine Seaweed Festival in 2014 and 2015. She is active in the Maine Seaweed Exchange and the organizer of the Maine Seaweed Fair and Practical Seaweed Farmer Conference.

    Seaweed Aquaculture Education and Advocacy

    A 501(c)(3) organization devoted to farmed seaweed and integrated aquaculture education and advocacy. The MSE sponsors an annual Seaweed Fair, the Practical Seaweed Farmer Conference, as well as offering a certificate in seaweed aquaculture and an MSE approved product certification program.
